In 1953, Northside Tool Rental founder and Atlanta native, Roy Milling Jr., left a promising engineering career at Lockheed to start a tool and equipment rental business. This was an idea he had seen while on a business trip to California. Roy had a passion for tools and innovative construction equipment and started his small rental company with just a few hand tools, shovels, post hole diggers, wheel barrels and push lawn mowers.

Roy believed that tools were a way to help people solve problems and took pride in sharing his knowledge and passion. In just a short while, Roy’s new tool rental concept became popular and word about his rental business and keen knowledge of tools and construction equipment quickly spread amongst local contractors both large and small.

In 2002, Roy Milling passed away but his legacy lives on and has been passed on to two generations who hold his same commitment and passion for tools, equipment and for solving customers problems. As we look ahead toward the next 50 years we look forward to continuing to serve our many long-time, loyal customers and assisting new customers in their tool and equipment needs.
