Get Your Home Holiday Ready!

The holidays are fast approaching with Thanksgiving just a few short weeks away. It is all SO exciting, unless you are the host – then it becomes a little daunting. Don’t sweat it! We are here to get you in the spirit and get your home holiday ready for guests.

First Impressions

Whether you are entertaining overnight guests, serving a meal, or greeting pop-in guests – the experience begins at the front door. Spend some extra time with the decorations and lighting in this area to set a welcoming mood.

Just inside your entrance, designate a closet or coat rack to take care of coats, scarves and gloves upon arrival. Provide an area for guests to thoroughly wipe their shoes or take them off and store them if needed.

Sparkle and Shine

Of course, you want your home to sparkle and shine when guests arrive. The most important area to focus on is clearing the clutter! Then clean all surface areas and wipe away dust in your common areas. Beyond those two biggies, our best advice is to walk around your home pretending to be a guest. Looking at your home with fresh eyes will help you to see what cleaning and maintenance items need to addressed before guests arrive.

Good Eats

Every holiday gathering involves good food, right? To ease the load, include as many make-ahead dishes on the menu as you can. Pie crusts and other baked goods can be made ahead and frozen. Casseroles and some salads can also be prepared in advance. All vegetable peeling, dicing and chopping can be completed the day or two before. Another big help is to set up a serve yourself beverage station. Include everything guests will need for coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and other drinks.

Is it possible to have a stress-free holiday gatherings, even if you are the host? We think so! Of course, Northside Tool Rental is here for your tool and equipment rental needs. Whether you need lifts and ladders to secure holiday lighting, a pressure washer to make everything shine, or painting equipment to make it look new – we have you covered!
